Bayside Bike Park Phase 1 - Hancock, MI

The Bayside Bike Park is a great addition to the communities of Hancock, Dollar Bay, and surrounding areas. What was a long abandoned gravel pit has been turned into a versatile mountain bike training ground.

There is a dedicated skills park for beginner and intermediate riders. For people getting wheels under them for the first time there is a short, no consequence circuit built to accommodate striders.

We built a climb trail (Surfs Up) going to the top of the property. You ride right through a repurposed diesel tank that serves as a flyover on your way up. From there you have two options, Big Diesel or Twist It.

Twist it is a quick shot down the hill with technical rock features, dirt berms, and dirt jumps. It’s an intermediate trail that is tight at the top and opens up towards the bottom.

Big Diesel is the main course with 15-25 foot dirt tabletops, hip jumps, and a 11 ft diameter diesel tank that you jump over. The drainage of this trail is the unsung hero with various ditches and culverts directing the water away or underneath the trail.

This build was a ground up project. We completed the trail work, signage, feature installation, drainage, and gravel parking areas. A huge thanks to Houghton Building Supply for the assist with equipment. Thanks to our local rippers for all the testing efforts.
